What a topsy turvey commute this turned out to be. The sunny was shining brightly, which helped to compensate for the 35°F temperature. This day had all the making for a great commute.
I headed out for work, but after 3.5 miles the front tire goes flat. No worries, plenty of time. So I attempt to fix the flat. As luck would have it, the tire was damaged, which made a tube replacement futile.
So I put the wheel back on the bike and start walking. After walking about 1.2 miles, I see a line of taxis waiting outside of the gambling casino. (I guess people leaving the casino at 0700 need a taxi.) So I get a taxi to ferry me and my bike back home.
After unloading at my house, I installed my spare front wheel and started back to work. After about a half mile I notice that the computer was not working. Turns out that there was no magnet on my just-installed front wheel. Fortunately, I had a spare magnet laying in the bottom of my trunk bag.
The rest of the commute to work was uneventful. Sheesh.
I guess that my morning commute was a "quadathon": bike, walk, taxi, bike. It's still better than driving to work.
